Our Mission and Membership

Walter Bradley Park is located in the heart of Midway Kentucky, along Lee’s Branch – a lovely clear water creek that runs through the center of town. Walter Bradley Park is a place where citizens can enjoy a walk along woodland trails, let their dog run freely in the dog park, or gather for a picnic at the pavilion. The Friends of Walter Bradley Park is an organization devoted to raising funds to improve the park, organizing volunteer efforts, and raising public awareness of the park itself. When you become a Friend of Walter Bradley Park you move the park forward in becoming an even better resource for the city of Midway and Woodford County.

About the Park

Walter Bradley Park is a 28-acre urban park accessible from Downtown Midway and surrounding neighborhoods. The park boasts 4 miles of walking trails, picnic shelters, open picnic areas, and a fenced-in dog park. One of the best features is the Creek Walk, which winds along Lee's Branch for about a mile and a half. The park is open all year and is maintained by volunteers through the Friends of Walter Bradley Park.

Come enjoy all our park has to offer. If you have more interest in getting involved in park activities, please consider becoming a Friend of Walter Bradley Park.

The Walter Bradley Park Board is in the process of developing a biology, botany, and ecology curriculum for elementary and middle school children. If you are a teacher or parent with an interest in how we can help your school, please let us know.

Current Park Initiatives

At the end of 2016 the City of Midway formed the Parks Board to ensure the maintenance and improvement of Walter Bradly Park. The goal of the Parks Board for 2017 is to improve existing features of the park, as well as create new and exciting additions. The top maintenance issues address for 2017 will be reparing the dog park fence (as needed), removal of invasive plants throughout the park, applying sealant and maintaining the ramp to the bridge over the Lee Branch creek.

New items for 2017 will include several flowerbeds, improvements to the Northside entrance, a water spigot near the dog park, lighting for the trails, and the creation of a community council circle in the quarry. Park Manager John Holloway is leading the efforts, and much of the work is being completed by volunteers and the Friends of Walter Bradley Park. Updates of the improvements can be found at our facebook page and park board meetings are held the second Thursday of each month.
